Hi and welcome to Tru Point kennel. I have been hunting and training pointing dogs for over 25 years. All the dogs I have, or had, over the years were and are personal hunting companions. The sight of one of my own dogs pointing a game bird still makes my heart skip a beat. It is quite a sight! One I have never grown tired of.
Our Small Munsterlanders are family dogs. They live with us in our home. Although we hunt and test our dogs and they get plenty of time a field and even with all the time outside they spend the majority of their lives as companions as most all hunting dogs do. Our dogs make great indoor dogs. They are calm and relaxed in the house. They do get excited to see guest and enjoy playing with my kids, but most of the time they are curled up on someone’s lap being petted. Ah yes, a dog's life.
Tru Point Kennel promotes hunt testing, hip testing, and the qualifying of our dogs with the Small Munsterlander Club of North America (SMCNA) Breed Council. The SMNCA requires all breeding dogs to have met minimum requirements before being bred. Dogs that meet or surpass the requirements are approved for breeding. Tru Point Kennel will only breed dogs that have been approved by the SMCNA Breed Council. I believe that dogs used for breeding must possess hunting skills, quality genetics, sound temperament, and solid conformations. I have been very consciences about the dogs I bring to Tru Point Kennel. Every angle has been thought through before buying a pup or breeding one of our dogs. However, this does not mean all our dogs are great or all the pups we produce will be outstanding. What it does mean, is that care has been taken to produce pups with sound hunting skills and genetics, and perfect temperaments to live well with their family.
I am a member of The Small Munstelander Club of North America (SMCNA) www.smallmunsterlander.org the SMCNA promotes the responsible ownership of the small munsterlander. Please check out their web site for further information.
We test all of our dogs and buy dogs that come from parents that have been hunt tested and approved for breeding by the SMCNA Breed Council. We use the North American Versitle hunting Dog Association (NAVHDA) www.navhda.org for our testing program. NAVHDA has been testing dogs against a standard since 1969. All of our dogs are PennHip or OFA hip tested to assure that they are Hip Dysplastic Free. Their web site www.pennhip.org and www.offa.org explains how the testing works and how it helps to reduce the likelihood of hip dysplasia.
The bottom line is, you and I both want dogs that can hunt productively in a variety of situations. They need to be good citizens with family, friends, and other animals. Please check Tru Point Kennel out and see if we can fill a spot in your fields of dreams.
God Bless,
Mike Palmitier
